Abstract

The changing nature of the legal profession has started to recognise the importance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations. The concept of ESG encompasses a broad range of issues, from Environmental sustainability, social justice and corporate governance and ethics. These concerns are taking a central place in the legal practice field. The growing need for lawyers and professionals with knowledge and skills to navigate in these complex areas has started to change the legal education landscape as well. As a result, the inclusion of ESG concepts in legal education has been a shift recently seen in the legal education sector. This doctrinal research aims to explore how legal education providers are adopting ESG into their curriculum and the considering adoption of ESG and its implications demanding a complete re-evaluation of curricular content, pedagogical approaches and overall objectives for Islamic University of Maldives in training future legal professionals.
